Yes. We charge a $35 flat fee.
At Taína Canine Rehabilitation we offer rehabilitation and massage services exclusively. Veterinary concerns will be referred to your primary veterinarian. For anxious animals I will likely briefly discuss medication options that should be discussed with your primary veterinarian. For rehabilitation cases a summary of the examination and plan will be emailed to your primary veterinarian within 2 weeks of the visit. If you do not have a veterinarian, we highly encourage you to find a veterinary clinic/hospital to care for your dog's needs that are not covered by our services.
If your pet usually gets very anxious at the veterinary clinic, he or she may also exhibit some anxiety during an initial evaluation though our evaluations are quite different than at clinic evaluations. If your pet takes anxiolytic medication for veterinary visit, he or she would likely benefit from taking them prior to our initial consultation. Please make sure to discuss this with us during our 15-minute get-to-know each other phone/video meeting. If your pet is not on any anxiolytics and is moderate to severely anxious, please read our anxiety medication papers on our website and discuss with your veterinarian prior to your initial visit. There are other medication options your veterinarian may recommend depending on the case. If your dog has shown aggression, please buy an adequate size basket muzzle and train how to use it at least 2-3 weeks in advance. You can go to the muzzleupproject.com for educational videos.
At this time, we cannot accept aggressive dogs into our program as I do not have an assistant. Occasional exceptions can be made for mild situational aggression with clients that are willing to work with a behaviorist and take all necessary precautions.
Depends on the case. Dogs must be free of fleas before services can be provided. Open wounds, sores and rashes should be noted on the appointment request forms as well as current treatments. If generalized skin disease that has not been diagnosed, I would likely request an initial 20-25 video consultation to discuss history in more detail. ($60). This will not replace a veterinary visit but rather let me know if we need to delay initial consultation.
Yes. Clients that I have seen at South Bay Veterinary Hospital that have undergone diagnostic radiographs receive a 25% discount on the initial consultation.
