Laser light is delivered to the tissue via a probe in contact with the skin. The cells enters the cell's mitochondria and is absorbed by the chromophores, including CCO which increases its activity. As a result, ATP, ROS and NO are affected. An increase in ATP which is an energy source results in increase ability to fight infection and accelerating healing. Modulation of ROS promotes healing and release of NO increases circulation as well as causing decrease inflammation.
As a certified canine rehabilitation therapist, I have training to use laser equipment safely minimizing potential complications. Laser specific eyewear is provided for one person that can be present during treatment and for the dog or cat being treated. I do provide laser treatment to cats that allow it. I also have a Class 3 b laser which is safer than other options.
